Government to Prepare a Common Formula to Resolve Forest Land Disputes, Says CM Dhami

Rishikesh: Thousands of families in Uttarakhand struggling for years with forest land disputes and land ownership issues may soon receive relief. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami indicated that the state government is preparing a comprehensive, integrated solution for all such affected areas, which will be sent to the Central Government for approval.

Addressing a public gathering at the IDPL Ground, the Chief Minister said that several regions in the state face similar issues related to forest land and displacement. Instead of adopting separate solutions, the government is working on a unified policy to provide permanent relief to affected residents.

He stated that the issue of Bapugram in Rishikesh had been prominently raised by local MLA Premchand Agrawal. Similar concerns from Bindukhatta, Bagga-54, Ramnagar, and other affected regions would also be included in the proposal.

The Chief Minister noted that legal and technical hurdles have long delayed the resolution of forest land matters. Therefore, the government is preparing a comprehensive proposal that will be implemented after receiving approval from the Central Government. This is expected to pave the way for granting land rights and essential civic amenities to thousands of affected families.

He assured people that the government is sincerely committed to finding a permanent solution and expects positive outcomes with the Centre’s support.

Later, the Chief Minister reached Bhimtal, where he thanked the people of Uttarakhand while reflecting on his five-year tenure. He said the people had broken the state’s long-standing political tradition by electing the BJP to power for a second consecutive term. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance as a major driving force behind Uttarakhand’s development and said the state is setting new benchmarks with the Centre’s support.
