Dehradun: On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat extended their heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Raksha Bandhan is a festival celebrating the unbreakable bond of love, trust, affection, and the commitment to protect one another between brothers and sisters. He said that the vision of a prosperous Uttarakhand cannot be realized without empowering women. Respect for and empowerment of women are among the top priorities of the government. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, women across the state are also being provided free travel on Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses on August 28 and 29.
Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh said that Raksha Bandhan symbolizes the sacred bond, unbreakable affection, and trust between brothers and sisters. The festival strengthens the spirit of love, harmony, and brotherhood in society. He wished the people of the state happiness, prosperity, and well-being.
Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan said that Raksha Bandhan is a festival of love, affection, trust, and devotion. Along with strengthening Indian culture and family values, the festival promotes mutual brotherhood and harmony in society.
Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat also extended his Raksha Bandhan greetings to the people of the state, saying that a Rakhi is not merely a thread but a sacred promise of love, trust, and protection for one’s loved ones.
