Dehradun: The ninth meeting of the State Broadband Committee was held under Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. Issues related to internet connectivity were discussed, and necessary directions were given.
He instructed that remote areas without road access should be connected through fiber cables and Wi-Fi. Alternative technologies should be used to deliver equipment to such areas.
All panchayat buildings are to be connected under the BharatNet scheme. The ROW portal will be managed by the IT Development Agency, and departments related to water, electricity, gas, and communication must integrate with it.
Monthly progress reports were mandated. Instructions were also given to speed up street furniture mapping.
Temporary connectivity should be provided in nearby government buildings where panchayat buildings are under construction.
Telecom companies were directed to resolve call drop issues, identify black spots, and install temporary mobile towers on major routes during travel seasons.
