Dehradun: Following strict directives from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, police action against criminals has intensified across the state. Under the special drive “Operation Prahar,” Dehradun Police have taken action in multiple cases and arrested several accused.
Three More Arrested in Rajpur Firing Case
Police have arrested three more accused in connection with the firing and murder case in the Rajpur area. The arrested individuals include Aadesh Giri, Sameer Chaudhary, and Mohit Arora. According to reports, the incident occurred after a dispute at a bar escalated, leading to a chase and subsequent firing between two groups. During the incident, a 70-year-old man who had gone for a morning walk was hit by a bullet and died. Earlier, four accused had already been arrested and sent to jail in this case.
₹18.5 Lakh Robbery Accused Arrested from Rishikesh
An आरोपी involved in a ₹18.5 lakh robbery in Raigad district of Maharashtra, identified as Yogesh Lahare, was arrested from Rishikesh by a joint team of Dehradun and Maharashtra Police. He was tracked down using CCTV footage and informer inputs. After completing legal formalities, he was handed over to Maharashtra Police.
₹1 Lakh Reward Criminal Also Nabbed
Police also arrested a fugitive criminal carrying a reward of ₹1 lakh, Raja Sahani, who had escaped from jail in Cuttack, Odisha. A joint team of Dehradun and Tehri Police apprehended him along with a vehicle after surrounding him in the Rishikesh area. He is reportedly involved in several serious criminal cases across different states.
Encroachment Removal Drive in Dakra Market
Dehradun Police, along with the traffic police and cantonment board, conducted an anti-encroachment drive in Dakra Market. Illegal encroachments were removed, and action was taken against 20 individuals under the Police Act. Additionally, 8 vehicles parked in no-parking zones were towed and fined.
Statewide Intensive Checking Campaign
Director General of Police Deepam Seth stated that under Operation Prahar, intensive checking and verification drives are being carried out across the state. Suspicious individuals and vehicles are being checked at barriers and sensitive locations. Verification drives are also being conducted in PGs, hostels, hotels, and dharamshalas.
He added that strict action will continue against traffic rule violators, late-night operating pubs and bars, and those disrupting law and order.
