Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated Indian athletes for their outstanding performances at the 23rd Commonwealth Championships and the World Junior Squash Championship held in Glasgow, Scotland, and wished them continued success in the future.
The Chief Minister praised Rishikanta Singh for winning the silver medal in the 60 kg category at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship, calling the achievement a matter of pride for the nation. He said the success would inspire young athletes to excel in sports.
He also congratulated Anahat Singh, who created history by winning the gold medal at the 2026 World Junior Squash Championship. Dhami said her achievement would inspire young girls across the country and help elevate the profile of squash in India.
Anahat Singh became the first Indian player to win a gold medal at the World Junior Squash Championship. She secured the historic victory by defeating Ruqayya Salem of Egypt in the final. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated her, describing the triumph as a new milestone for Indian sports.
