Dehradun: IPS Pramod Dobal assumed charge as Dehradun SSP today. The SSP outlined his priorities on the first day. He called for concerted efforts to improve women’s safety, law and order, and traffic improvements. He also emphasized the need to boost police morale and enhance their efficiency. He conveyed a message of zero tolerance against those attempting to disrupt social harmony.
Amidst rising crime, traffic chaos, and questions about women’s safety in Dehradun, the newly appointed Senior Superintendent of Police has clearly indicated that policing will reflect both strictness and sensitivity in the future. Given the recent rise in crime and concerns about law and order in the city, the police administration is preparing for strategic changes. After assuming office, Pramod Dobal, who transferred from Haridwar to Dehradun, stated that Dehradun is not new to him and is familiar with its challenges.
He acknowledged that law and order, women’s safety, and traffic management have long been major challenges for the city. Describing these three areas as his priorities, he said that police efficiency will be further strengthened and the force’s morale will be kept high. He acknowledged that the biggest responsibility lies in eliminating the “fear factor” or sense of insecurity that currently exists in the minds of the people. To achieve this, emphasis will be placed on effective patrolling, prompt action, and improved coordination. Special campaigns will be launched for women’s safety and concrete steps will be taken to improve traffic management.
The SSP also appealed for cooperation from citizens and the media, stating that public trust is crucial for better policing. He assured that the police will make every effort to ensure a safe and orderly Dehradun.
