Dehradun/Haldwani/Ramnagar: On the occasion of Ashtami and Ram Navami during Chaitra Navratri, Kanya Pujan (worship of young girls) was performed across Uttarakhand with devotion and faith.
At the Chief Minister’s residence in Dehradun, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami performed Kanya Pujan and prayed for the prosperity of the state. In Haldwani, a special feast was organized for daughters of sanitation workers, while in Ramnagar, a Jyot Yatra of Maa Girija was carried out.
On the occasion of Ram Navami, the Chief Minister honored young girls as embodiments of the goddess. Following traditional rituals, he washed their feet, served them food, and sought their blessings.
He extended greetings to the people of the state and said that the life of Lord Shri Ram inspires us to follow the path of duty, truth, and righteousness. He wished for happiness, prosperity, and continuous progress for the state.
He added that the festival of Ram Navami strengthens faith in moral values and ideals. Kanya Pujan is an important part of India’s rich cultural tradition, conveying the message of respect for women and social harmony.
In Haldwani, the Municipal Corporation organized a special Kanya Bhoj for around 150 girls, daughters of sanitation workers. Rituals including पूजा and havan were performed, followed by serving food to the girls and seeking their blessings.
Mayor Gajraj Singh Bisht said that serving food to daughters of sanitation workers reflects true service and devotion. He added that this is the second such आयोजन during Chaitra Navratri in his tenure.
In Ramnagar, grand religious celebrations were witnessed during Ashtami and Navami. A large Jagran event included a Jyot Yatra of Maa Girija, starting from Paidpadav area and concluding at Girija Devi Dham. The procession featured tableaux, traditional palanquins, and devotional chants, creating a spiritual atmosphere across the town.
