Lakpati Didi Scheme Transforms Lives: Over 2.5 Lakh Women Now Earn More Than One Lakh Rupees Annually

Dehradun: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government has increased the annual income of more than 2.5 lakh women residing in the rural areas of the state to over Rs. 2.5 lakh.

For this purpose, the state government is running the Lakpati Didi Scheme, under which the target is to increase the annual income of more than five lakh women associated with women’s self-help groups to over one lakh rupees in the next two years.

The Lakpati Didi Scheme was launched in 2022. Under the scheme, the target is to increase the annual income of 507,000 women associated with self-help groups to over one lakh rupees.

For this, these women are being provided training in agriculture, horticulture, dairy farming, tailoring and embroidery, as well as LPG distribution, basic veterinary services, insurance schemes, and digital transactions to connect them with livelihood opportunities.

  • From the start of the scheme until December 2025, the annual income of a total of 2.54 lakh women has been increased to over one lakh rupees.

In the current financial year alone, against a target of 1.20 lakh women, the annual income of 91,445 women has been increased to over one lakh rupees by the end of the third quarter. These women are associated with more than 68,000 self-help groups formed in the state.

Chief Minister Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana

The Dhami government has also implemented the Chief Minister Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana since August 2023 to promote the livelihoods of women’s groups. Currently, more than 35,000 women in the state are benefiting from this scheme.

Under the scheme, women’s groups have so far conducted business worth a total of Rs. 9.11 crore. The aim of the scheme is to provide a wider market for products manufactured by women’s groups.

The government is striving to empower women in every way. For this, women’s self-help groups are being connected with various economic activities. In this regard, efforts are also being made to increase the participation of women’s groups in water supply.
