Dehradun: In the general body meeting of the Bar Association in Dehradun, advocates took a strong stand against the District Magistrate and made a major decision. In protest against the recommendation for cancellation of the license of former president and senior advocate Premchand Sharma, lawyers warned that until the District Magistrate is transferred from the district, no advocate will work in revenue courts.
A large number of advocates participated in the general meeting held at Vidhi Bhawan and strongly condemned the alleged decision of the District Magistrate. Speakers said that such action against a respected senior advocate is not only inappropriate but also an attack on the dignity of the advocate community.
Office bearers of the Bar Association made it clear that this is not a fight of one individual but of the entire bar. A unanimous resolution was passed in the general meeting announcing a complete boycott of revenue courts.
Under the decision of the general meeting, advocates decided to completely abstain from work in courts and offices on Saturday. Due to this, files, typing work, stamp vendors, and other related activities also remained completely closed, due to which judicial work was affected.
