Dehradun: The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved two important decisions concerning Agniveers and the honour of martyred soldiers. An Agniveer Employment Cell will be established for Agniveers returning after completing their service, while statues of martyred soldiers will be installed in their ancestral villages.
Employment Cell to Be Set Up for Agniveers
The Cabinet approved the establishment of a special cell to connect Agniveers returning after completion of service with employment and government schemes. The cell will help provide employment opportunities according to their qualifications, training, and skills.
Arrangements will also be made to connect Agniveers with opportunities available under various government schemes, departments, and institutions. The government’s objective is to secure the future of Agniveers after completion of their service and utilize the skills they acquired during military service for the development of the state.
Agniveers Will Also Be Linked to Government Schemes
According to Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, Uttarakhand has a large military population, and a significant number of young people from the state are serving in the armed forces under the Agniveer scheme. Therefore, it is necessary to establish arrangements in advance for their employment and rehabilitation after completion of their service.
The employment cell will coordinate among the concerned departments and explore employment opportunities for Agniveers.
Statues of Martyrs to Be Installed in Their Native Villages
The Cabinet also approved the installation of statues of martyred soldiers in their ancestral villages as an important measure to honour their sacrifice. The government believes this will respect the sentiments of the families of the martyrs and the villagers.
The statues will also inspire future generations by reminding them of the martyrs’ sacrifice and service to the nation. Considering Uttarakhand’s strong military tradition and the significant participation of youth from the state in the armed forces, the decision is being regarded as important.
Government Focus on Soldiers’ Welfare
Through these two Cabinet decisions, the government has initiated an institutional mechanism for the employment and rehabilitation of Agniveers after their service, while also deciding to honour martyred soldiers in their ancestral villages. The decisions also highlight the government’s priority towards the welfare of serving and former soldiers and their families.
