Mandatory Presence of Officials at Pauri Divisional Headquarters; Commissioner Introduces Strict Rules

Dehradun: In response to longstanding concerns regarding the absence of officials at the Garhwal Divisional Headquarters in Pauri, the administration has introduced stricter measures.

Anand Swaroop, the Commissioner of the Garhwal Division, has made it clear that the divisional headquarters will no longer remain merely symbolic and that regular attendance of all concerned officers and employees will be ensured.

For years, despite several important divisional offices being located in Pauri, many administrative functions were reportedly conducted from Dehradun, causing inconvenience to citizens who needed official services.

After assuming charge as a full-time divisional commissioner, Anand Swaroop decided to work regularly from the Pauri headquarters and instructed all divisional-level officials and staff to remain present at their designated headquarters.

Under the new system:

  • No officer will be allowed to leave headquarters without prior information.
  • Officials may need approval before leaving headquarters when required.
  • Officers holding additional responsibilities must specify the days on which they will be available at the Pauri office.
  • Attendance and availability details may be made public so citizens can know in advance when officials will be present.

Local residents and organizations have repeatedly raised concerns about the neglect of Pauri’s status as a divisional headquarters. The commissioner’s initiative is being viewed as an important step toward strengthening administrative functioning and improving public services in the region.

Officials have indicated that compliance with these directives will be closely monitored, and if implemented effectively, administrative activities in Pauri are expected to increase significantly, benefiting the public.
