Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Health and Medical Education Minister Subodh Uniyal and Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay at the Chief Minister’s residence, where they held detailed discussions on the establishment of a Medical College in Tehri and the expansion of healthcare services in the district.
The Chief Minister said that setting up a medical college in a geographically important district like Tehri would improve healthcare facilities for local residents and strengthen the overall health infrastructure of the Garhwal region. He assured that the state government would take positive steps in line with public aspirations and regional needs.
CM Dhami said the government’s priority is to provide specialist medical services, modern healthcare facilities, and quality treatment to remote, hilly, and border areas. He added that continuous efforts are being made to strengthen medical infrastructure, expand medical and nursing education, ensure the availability of doctors, and equip healthcare institutions with modern facilities.
He also highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, Health and Wellness Centres, telemedicine services, and the expansion of medical education institutions have significantly improved the healthcare sector in Uttarakhand.
Health Minister Subodh Uniyal briefed the Chief Minister on Tehri’s healthcare requirements and proposals related to the medical college, while MLA Kishore Upadhyay emphasized that the institution has been a long-pending demand of the region and urged its early establishment.
The Chief Minister assured both representatives that their suggestions would be considered positively and reiterated the government’s commitment to building a stronger, modern, and people-centric healthcare system.
