Model Cooperative Village to Be Established in Every District of Uttarakhand; Preparations to Send 50 Secretaries to Gujarat

Dehradun: To give new momentum to the cooperative movement in Uttarakhand, the state government has taken a major decision. One model cooperative village will be established in each district of the state. To implement the scheme at the earliest, Cooperative Minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed departmental officials to prepare a detailed roadmap.

Development on the Lines of Sanskrit Villages

During a departmental review meeting held on Saturday, the minister directed that model cooperative villages be developed in every district on the lines of Sanskrit villages. These villages will include:

  • Cooperative bank
    • CSC (Common Service Center)
    • Cooperative market

The cooperative market will provide a strong platform for local women self-help groups, farmer groups, and rural producers to market their products. The government aims to strengthen the rural economy, increase employment opportunities, and develop a self-reliant cooperative-based model.

Why 50 Secretaries Will Be Sent to Gujarat

In the meeting, the minister instructed officials to send 50 secretaries of cooperative societies on a study tour to Gujarat.

Priority will be given to secretaries of societies that are in their infancy stage, so they can study Gujarat’s successful cooperative models and implement them in their respective districts. The government believes that learning from successful models will help strengthen the state’s cooperative societies.

Focus on Loss-Making Societies

After Holi, Joint Registrars, Additional Registrars, and in-charge officers will conduct block-level review meetings in their respective districts. A concrete action plan will be implemented at the ground level to revive societies running at a loss.

Instructions have also been given to mandatorily hold regular board meetings of all PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies) and apex committees.

Transparent Recruitment and Publicity

All appointments in cooperative societies and cooperative banks will be conducted transparently through the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). Instructions have been issued to release recruitment advertisements by March 15.

Additionally, on the lines of the Ministry of Cooperation of the Government of India, wide publicity of schemes and achievements will be carried out through social media in local languages and dialects.

A New Initiative for Rural Development

Minister Dhan Singh Rawat stated that model cooperative villages will form the foundation for strong, self-reliant, and inclusive cooperative development in the state. In the coming time, this initiative will set a new example for rural development.
