Niti Extreme Ultra Run 2026 Begins; CM Dhami Flags Off Countdown Run

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday flagged off the countdown run for the Niti Extreme Ultra Run 2026. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also lit the ceremonial torch and participated in a symbolic run. During the event, the mascot “Kyalu – the Snow Leopard” was unveiled for the official launch of the Niti Extreme Ultra Run scheduled to be held on May 31, 2026.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the Niti Extreme Ultra Run is not just a sporting event, but a campaign to ignite new energy, opportunities, and confidence in the border areas. He stated that the enthusiasm of the youth proves that the young people of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand possess courage, determination, and the passion to achieve something significant for the nation.

He said that running in a remote region like the Niti Valley requires unwavering faith like the Himalayas and the courage to embrace challenges. According to him, the run will not only test physical endurance but will also strengthen willpower, patience, and self-confidence.

Describing the participants as brand ambassadors of Uttarakhand’s courage, tourism, and potential, CM Dhami said that Uttarakhand is emerging not only as a center of natural beauty and spiritual power but also as a major hub for adventure and sports activities. He added that the event reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that “border villages are not the last villages of the country, but the first villages.”

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the event would give a fresh boost to tourism, homestays, local products, and youth entrepreneurship in border areas. He informed that more than 900 participants from 27 states of India and two other countries have registered for the event, highlighting its growing popularity.

He further said that while the Central Government is promoting sports culture through campaigns like Fit India Movement and Khelo India, the Uttarakhand Government is continuously working to establish the state as a leading destination for adventure sports and sports tourism in the country.

The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to all participants and organizers and wished for a safe and successful event.
