Haridwar: The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected executive body of Press Club Haridwar was held, where Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan attended as the chief guest. On this occasion, he administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly elected President Dharmendra Chaudhary and General Secretary Suryakant Belwal.
Ravindra Puri attended the program as a special guest and administered the oath to other office bearers of the executive body—Deepak Mishra, Devendra Sharma (Vice Presidents), Kulbhushan Sharma, Jogendra Singh Mavi (Secretaries), Mehtab Alam (Cultural Secretary), Tanveer Ali (Publicity Secretary), and Kashiram Saini (Treasurer).
Additionally, Haridwar District Magistrate Mayur Dixit administered the oath to executive members. Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh Bhullar was also present at the event.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan congratulated the newly elected members and said that the press is the fourth pillar of democracy and plays a crucial role in guiding society. He stated that journalists are closely connected to the ground realities, and issues raised by them help in resolving public problems.
He added that the objective of governance, administration, and media is the same—to improve the lives of every citizen. Coordination among all stakeholders is essential to achieve this goal.
He emphasized that in the era of the internet and social media, news spreads rapidly, increasing the responsibility of journalists to deliver only factual and verified information.
Referring to the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027 Haridwar, he said that with collective efforts, the event will be organized in a grand and divine manner.
At the end of the program, President Dharmendra Chaudhary and General Secretary Suryakant Belwal expressed gratitude to all the guests. The Press Club honored Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Mahant Ravindra Puri Maharaj, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, and SSP Navneet Singh Bhullar with mementos and shawls. A large number of journalists and dignitaries were present.
