Dehradun: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, women from across the state who came to meet Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami tied rakhis on his wrist and prayed for his good health and long life. The Chief Minister warmly welcomed the women, expressed his gratitude, and extended his greetings to the people of the state on Raksha Bandhan.
Chief Minister Dhami said that Raksha Bandhan is a festival celebrating the love, trust, and promise of protection between brothers and sisters. The affection and blessings of women and sisters give him renewed energy to serve Uttarakhand and contribute to the development of the state.
He said that the Central and state governments are continuously working for the dignity, safety, and economic empowerment of women. In Uttarakhand, women are being provided 30 percent horizontal reservation in government services, while various schemes are creating opportunities for women in self-employment and livelihood generation.
The Chief Minister said that more than 309,000 women in the state have become “Lakhpati Didis.” Women associated with self-help groups are increasing their incomes through local products, agriculture, handicrafts, and self-employment, while also contributing to strengthening the state’s economy.
The Chief Minister said that empowering women and making them self-reliant is among the state government’s top priorities. New opportunities are being created for women through initiatives such as the Sashakt Bahna Utsav, women’s self-help group empowerment programmes, and the Mahalakshmi Yojana.
He said that the vision of a strong and empowered Uttarakhand can be realized only through the active participation of women.
