Dehradun: Under the Prime Minister’s Developed India Employment Scheme (PM-VBRY), nearly 6,000 employees and more than 900 employers in Uttarakhand received incentive assistance exceeding ₹24 crore. At a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s residence, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored beneficiary employees and employers.
Addressing a nationwide event virtually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced incentive assistance of around ₹2,400 crore for more than 1.5 million youth and workers across the country.
The Chief Minister stated that youth power is the greatest asset in achieving the vision of Developed India 2047. He described PM-VBRY as a significant initiative aimed at creating employment opportunities and making young people self-reliant.
He explained that first-time job seekers are eligible for financial assistance of up to ₹15,000, while institutions generating employment can receive incentives of up to ₹3,000 per month for every additional employee for four years.
Highlighting the state’s efforts, he said Uttarakhand is actively promoting startups, skill development, and self-employment through initiatives such as the Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme, Chief Minister Youth Promotion Scheme, Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme, and the Deendayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana.
The Chief Minister added that more than 30 policies, including industrial, logistics, startup, and MSME policies, have been implemented to attract investment. The 2023 Global Investors Summit generated investment proposals worth over ₹3.56 lakh crore, of which projects exceeding ₹1 lakh crore have already begun implementation.
He also highlighted key industrial initiatives, including the Aroma Park in Kashipur, the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster, the Plastic Park in Sitarganj, the Multimodal Logistics Park in Pantnagar, and plug-and-play flatted factories in Rudrapur, Selakui, and Haridwar. Work is also progressing on a Smart Industrial Township spanning over 1,000 acres at Kichha Farm.
According to the Chief Minister, the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has grown by 7.23 percent over the past year, per capita income has increased by 41 percent, more than 33,000 youths have secured government jobs over the last four and a half years, and the unemployment rate has declined by a record 4.4 percent.
He urged young people not merely to wait for opportunities but to create them through talent, skills, and innovation, and to play a leading role in realizing the vision of Developed India 2047.
