Dehradun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor during his visit to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and addressed a massive public gathering. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present.
Addressing the gathering, he said that the inauguration marks another major achievement in Uttarakhand’s development. Recalling his statement after visiting Kedarnath, he said that the third decade of this century belongs to Uttarakhand, and expressed happiness that the state is progressing rapidly due to government policies and people’s efforts.
Before the inauguration, PM Modi visited the Dat Kali Temple in Dehradun via Saharanpur and offered prayers. Earlier, he reviewed the elevated wildlife corridor section of the expressway in Saharanpur and held a grand roadshow.
The project, built with the support of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, aims to reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun, boosting tourism and trade. The project, worth around ₹13,000 crore, includes Asia’s longest 12-kilometer elevated wildlife corridor and a 340-meter tunnel.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said that roads and highways are the “lifelines of a nation” and play a crucial role in determining its future growth and direction.
