Delhi/Dehradun: Preparations for the Kumbh Mela, to be held in Haridwar from January to April 2027, are now gaining momentum. The central government has released ₹500 crore for the fair’s arrangements and infrastructure development. This release will accelerate the strengthening of infrastructure and various development projects in the fair area.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the release of funds. He said that the Kumbh Mela is not just a religious event, but a world-renowned festival of India’s eternal culture, spiritual tradition, and social harmony. This central assistance will play a crucial role in making Kumbh 2027 divine, grand, and well-organized.
The Center has released 500 crore rupees for the Kumbh Mela.
According to the state government, the approved funds will be used to strengthen the beautification of ghats, the construction and repair of roads and bridges, traffic management, drinking water supply, sanitation, and security arrangements. Additionally, facilities such as temporary accommodation, parking, medical services, and control rooms will be improved for the convenience of pilgrims.

The Chief Minister stated that Prime Minister Modi has a special connection with Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and that the central government has consistently supported the state’s development efforts. Major projects such as the Chardham project, the expansion of all-weather roads, and rail and air connectivity are examples of this. He expressed confidence that the coordinated efforts of the central and state governments will establish the Kumbh Mela 2027 as a historic and safe event.
The government aims to ensure timely, transparent, and quality work while providing the best possible facilities to the millions of pilgrims coming from India and abroad. At the administrative level, a framework for preparations has been prepared, and responsibilities are being assigned to various departments. The state government has made it clear that no effort will be spared to ensure a divine and grand Kumbh Mela in 2027.
