Dehradun: Preparations have intensified regarding the inauguration of the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor (Delhi–Dehradun Expressway), which is considered historic for Uttarakhand. In view of the proposed program of the Prime Minister’s visit to Uttarakhand on April 14, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday and reviewed the arrangements.
Describing this occasion as an important and historic moment in the history of the state, the Chief Minister instructed all departments to work in coordination. He said that the program should be organized in a grand and well-organized manner and participation of every section of society should be ensured so that it can take the form of a public festival.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed the officials that the outline of the program should be attractive and systematic. Giving special importance to cultural programs, he said that a glimpse of Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage—Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari folk dances and music—should be seen in the event. The venue should be prepared with traditional and modern decorations and participation of local artists should also be ensured.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also appealed to the people of the state to participate enthusiastically in this historic occasion. He said that people should come out of their homes with the national flag and participate in the program during the Prime Minister’s road show and create a festive atmosphere across the state. Instructions have also been given to run a cleanliness campaign across the state before the program, in which participation of public representatives, administration and common citizens will be ensured.
The Chief Minister said that the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor will prove to be a project that will give a new direction to the development of the state. With its construction, travel time between Delhi and Dehradun will be significantly reduced, which will boost tourism. Along with this, expansion of industrial and commercial activities will create new employment opportunities for youth.
He said that this project will also bring major changes in logistics, transport and investment, which will strengthen the economy of Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister described it as a “golden chapter” in the history of the state’s development.
In the meeting, Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, along with Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, District Magistrate Dehradun Savin Bansal, Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun and Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari, along with many senior officials, were present.
