Muzaffarnagar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami provided key updates regarding regional connectivity, stating that the process to extend the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor up to Rishikesh is actively underway. This expansion will benefit commuters across both Uttarakhand and Western Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking at a tribute ceremony at the Rampur Tiraha Martyr Memorial on Friday, CM Dhami added that the extension of the Ganga Expressway up to Haridwar has been approved. He noted that the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has already reduced travel time between the two cities to around 2.5 to 3 hours, significantly boosting regional transit, tourism, and economic growth.
Highlighting governance and legislative measures, CM Dhami stated that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He shared that anti-encroachment drives have successfully reclaimed nearly 13,000 acres of land, strict anti-conversion laws have been enacted, and action under Operation Kalnemi has been taken against fraudulent religious practices. He also highlighted educational reforms, noting the establishment of the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority to replace the Madarsa Board in order to provide modern education to all children.
During the event, Muzaffarnagar Sadar MLA and Minister of State (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Aggarwal recalled the events of October 2, 1994, and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister requesting the RRTS corridor extension to Rishikesh.

CM Dhami mentioned that preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Haridwar are in their final stages. Addressing recent inquiries regarding events at Badrinath Dham, he stated that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being drafted for the state’s holy shrines to ensure management aligns strictly with religious traditions and sanctity.
