Dehradun: A wave of grief has spread across the country following the demise of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri. President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several senior leaders have expressed their condolences.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a social media post, described the passing of Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri as deeply saddening. He said that Khanduri’s contributions, from the armed forces to politics, would always be remembered. PM Modi added that his dedication to the development of Uttarakhand was clearly visible during his tenure as both Chief Minister and Union Minister. His efforts to improve road connectivity were particularly inspiring.
Nitin Navin also termed Khanduri’s demise an irreparable loss. He said that Khanduri dedicated his life to national service and the ideals of good governance.
Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat also expressed grief, saying that Khanduri’s death is a great loss. He described him as not only an outstanding soldier but also a wonderful human being.
Uttarakhand Congress President Ganesh Godiyal also expressed deep sorrow. He said that Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri devoted his entire life to serving the nation and society.
Sharing an old memory associated with Khanduri, Ganesh Godiyal recalled that when Khanduri was serving as the Union Minister for Road Transport, he had seriously considered a National Highway proposal from Pauri district, rising above party politics. Godiyal said that Khanduri always prioritized development and public welfare in his approach.
Congress leaders and workers also mourned his demise and prayed for peace for the departed soul.
