Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Revenue Lok Adalat in Uttarakhand to make the justice system simpler, more accessible, and effective.
He directed officials to ensure time-bound disposal of revenue cases, emphasizing that providing quick and accessible justice to citizens is the government’s top priority.
The Chief Minister said that the initiative aims to resolve long-pending revenue disputes efficiently. He noted that such disputes are not merely paperwork but are linked to farmers’ land, livelihoods, and dignity.
He informed that more than 400 revenue courts are functioning in the state, with over 50,000 cases pending.
Under the concept of “Justice at Your Doorstep,” Revenue Lok Adalats are being organized simultaneously at 210 locations across all 13 districts, aiming to resolve around 6,933 cases quickly.
He added that apart from land disputes, cases related to excise, food, stamp duty, SARFAESI Act, Goonda Act, Criminal Procedure Code, Electricity Act, Senior Citizens Act, and Rent Control Act will also be addressed.
To simplify administrative processes, a Revenue Court Case Management System portal has been developed, enabling citizens to file cases online from home.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to ensure timely mutation (transfer of land ownership) in uncontested inheritance cases within a fixed timeframe after the landowner’s death.
