Review of Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan issues directions on solid waste management

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 and instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan for solid waste management.

He directed officials to develop a complete mechanism soon and present it. Additional funds were ordered for waste disposal along Char Dham routes and entry points of districts. District Magistrates were also instructed to ensure cleanliness around pilgrimage routes and sites.

The Chief Secretary emphasized proper and planned use of additional funds. He also directed that treated water from all sewage treatment plants be fully utilized for non-drinking purposes.

Instructions were given to operationalize compressed biogas plants and waste-to-energy plants at the earliest. He also stressed implementing a vehicle location tracking system for monitoring door-to-door waste collection.

He said the sanitation system should be strengthened technically and administratively to ensure effective waste management across the state.
