Dehradun: The second meeting of the State Road Safety Fund Management Committee was held at the Secretariat on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. Various proposals related to the Road Safety Fund were approved during the meeting.
The Chief Secretary directed the Transport Secretary to prepare and present a detailed action plan related to ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) for the entire state. He said that the Transport, Police, State Tax, and Mining Departments should have access to ANPR cameras, and therefore an integrated plan should be developed.
He also instructed that a joint and consolidated report of challans issued by the Transport Department and Police Department be sent to the Chief Secretary’s Office every month. He emphasized preparing an annual action plan for the Road Safety Fund that comprehensively covers all aspects related to road safety.
He said that road furniture, road signs, and other routine works would be carried out by the Public Works Department. All departments should complete their respective works on priority through their departmental budgets. Works for which budget provisions are not available would be supported through the Road Safety Fund.
The Chief Secretary further directed that all proposals should be examined and reviewed by a subcommittee before being presented to the committee, so that duplication of work can be avoided.
Principal Secretary (Justice and Law) Pradeep Pant, Secretaries Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Brijesh Kumar Sant, Dr. V. Shanmugam, Additional Secretaries Nivedita Kukreti and Rohit Meena, along with several senior officials, attended the meeting.
