Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired the governing body meeting of the Uttarakhand State Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance at the Secretariat on Thursday. He said that policymaking should give priority to research, innovation and effective implementation, keeping in mind the state’s geographical conditions and future requirements. He stressed that research findings should be used to make state policies and schemes more effective.
The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare case studies on the state’s achievements and significant work carried out in various sectors. He also called for special attention to the training and capacity building of officials at the district and block levels. He directed that regular evaluation of government schemes and annual monitoring of their targets be ensured.
The meeting agreed to provide scholarships to 10 postgraduate students from the state’s major universities every year for research and projects on priority subjects. Emphasis was also laid on promoting domestic tourism in the hill regions, small and high-value products, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Discussing the future strategy for Developed Uttarakhand-2047, the Chief Minister called for special focus on areas such as economic growth, employment, human resources, forests and biodiversity, climate adaptation, infrastructure development, local self-governance and technology-driven good governance.
The meeting was informed that Uttarakhand ranks first among Himalayan states in the field of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On the occasion, the Chief Minister also released the book “Uttarakhand at 25: A Himalayan State with Infinite Possibilities.” The book chronicles Uttarakhand’s 25-year journey of development.
