Dehradun. Ahead of the upcoming Kumbh Mela and State Assembly elections, the intelligence and security wing of Uttarakhand Police has intensified operational readiness. During a high-level security review meeting chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth, comprehensive guidelines were issued to fortify state security, enhance Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s security apparatus during campaign tours, and deploy robust security cover for VIP events.
Key directives issued during the meeting include:
Border Surveillance: Organizing high-level joint coordination meetings involving the ITBP, SSB, Army, Intelligence Bureau, State Police, and ATS to counter cross-border infiltration and anti-national activities along districts bordering international frontiers.
Festival & Event Security: Formulation of structured security plans for the Char Dham Yatra, upcoming Kumbh Mela, and high-visibility festivals including State Foundation Day, Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali.
24/7 Social Media Monitoring: Round-the-clock surveillance across digital and social media platforms to counter misinformation, fake news, and provocative content.
Official Fact-Checking Unit: Establishing swift fact-checking and official clarification protocols during major events like the elections and Kumbh Mela to preemptively contain potential law and order issues stemming from rumors.
DGP Deepam Seth also instructed district authorities to ensure the timely deployment of necessary police personnel, technical apparatus, and logistical resources well in advance of upcoming events.
