Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a high-level meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday regarding the ongoing pilgrimage to the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib. He directed officials to ensure that the safety and convenience of all pilgrims remain the highest priority and that no negligence is tolerated.
Welcoming pilgrims and tourists to Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister described the state as a priceless repository of faith, culture, and natural beauty. He urged visitors to enjoy their pilgrimage and refrain from paying attention to rumors.
Referring to recent incidents in Karnaprayag and Nagarasu, CM Dhami stated that the state government, administration, and police are conducting impartial investigations. He said that action has already been taken against individuals whose involvement has been established, and further strict measures will follow based on investigation findings. He emphasized that no one who disturbs law and order will be spared.
The Chief Minister noted that this year’s Char Dham Yatra has witnessed record participation, with more than 4 million pilgrims having visited the shrines so far. The Hemkund Sahib pilgrimage has also recorded approximately 25,000 more visitors in its initial phase compared to the previous year.
He highlighted that important Sikh pilgrimage sites such as Hemkund Sahib, Reetha Sahib, and Nanakmatta Sahib are located in Uttarakhand, and respect for all religions and communities forms an integral part of the state’s traditions and culture.
Expressing concern over misleading and provocative content circulating on social media, the Chief Minister warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to create hostility between communities. He appealed to citizens not to share unverified information and to help preserve social harmony.
CM Dhami reiterated that all religious sites in Uttarakhand are centers of faith, devotion, and inspiration. The government will not tolerate any act that undermines an individual’s dignity or creates an atmosphere against any religion or belief. He stressed that dialogue, mutual respect, and social harmony remain the most effective means of resolving differences.
