Swami Ram Himalayan University’s 8th Convocation Ceremony, Union Minister J.P. Nadda, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Present

Dehradun: The eighth convocation of Swami Ram Himalayan University, located in Jolly Grant, was held in a solemn atmosphere. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda was the chief guest, and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was the special guest.

“A degree carries with it the responsibility to serve humanity” – J.P. Nadda

Union Minister J.P. Nadda, congratulating the 1,001 students who received degrees from various faculties, said that convocation is not just an academic achievement, but the beginning of new responsibilities in life.

He said, “The next 25 years of Amritkaal will be decisive years for the creation of a developed India, in which today’s youth will not only be witnesses but also doers.”

He urged students to use their education for the welfare of humanity, the poor, and the last mile.

Nadda praised the leadership of the university’s president, Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, calling the institution a leader in the fields of medicine, education, and human services. He also mentioned health initiatives under the Prime Minister’s leadership, such as Ayushman Bharat, improvements in maternal and infant mortality rates, tuberculosis and malaria eradication, and early cancer detection.

“Youth power is the biggest strength of Uttarakhand and the nation” – Chief Minister Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while congratulating the degree recipients, said that Uttarakhand’s youth power is the state’s greatest asset.

He noted that the central government is providing significant support in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, telemedicine, and the expansion of health services in the mountainous regions.

Referring to the concept of “Prime Minister Modi’s Third Decade of Uttarakhand,” the Chief Minister highlighted the development work being carried out in the state—reverse migration, water and forest conservation, road, electricity, and internet connectivity, tourism development, SDG rankings, fisheries development, and improvements in the rural economy.

He urged students to use their knowledge and skills for nation-building and make service and compassion their core values.

State Education and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat praised the Center’s support in strengthening health services in Uttarakhand.

The program also showcased Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage. Member of Parliament Trivendra Singh Rawat, Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Doval, management, faculty, parents, and a large number of students were present.

This convocation ceremony was not only a celebration of academic achievement, but also a symbol of service, compassion, and a commitment to nation-building.
