Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government carried out a fresh round of administrative transfers late Thursday night, transferring five IAS officers and six PCS officers to new assignments across district administration, urban local bodies and the state government.
The transfer orders, issued at around 10:30 p.m., include changes in the postings of the District Magistrates of Jalaun and Bahraich, along with several other administrative shifts.
Rajesh Kumar Pandey Appointed Bahraich DM
Rajesh Kumar Pandey, a 2012-batch promoted IAS officer who was serving as District Magistrate of Jalaun, has been transferred and appointed the new District Magistrate of Bahraich.
His transfer is part of the latest round of field-level administrative changes undertaken by the state government.
Sameer Appointed Jalaun District Magistrate
Sameer, a 2015-batch IAS officer, has been moved from the state government to a field posting.
He was serving as Special Secretary in the IT and Electronics Department and Managing Director of UPDESCO. He has now been appointed District Magistrate of Jalaun, replacing Rajesh Kumar Pandey.
The move brings a new administrative head to Jalaun while also creating vacancies in the IT and Electronics Department and at UPDESCO, which have been addressed through the reshuffle.
Akanksha Rana Moved to IT and Electronics Department
Akanksha Rana, a 2017-batch IAS officer, has been transferred from her post as Municipal Commissioner of Jhansi Municipal Corporation to the state government.
She has been appointed Special Secretary in the IT and Electronics Department and Managing Director of UPDESCO.
Her transfer marks a move from urban local-body administration to a key state-level assignment involving the government’s IT and technology-related initiatives.
B. Suthan Appointed Jhansi Municipal Commissioner
- Suthan, a 2020-batch IAS officer who was serving as Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Barabanki, has been appointed Municipal Commissioner of Jhansi Municipal Corporation.
He will take charge of the city’s municipal administration following Akanksha Rana’s transfer to the state government.
Pankaj Verma Gets Barabanki CDO Charge
Pankaj Verma, a 2022-batch promoted IAS officer serving as Secretary of the Moradabad Development Authority, has been appointed Chief Development Officer of Barabanki.
His new posting completes another link in the chain of administrative changes triggered by the latest reshuffle.
Six PCS Officers Also Transferred
Along with the five IAS officers, the Uttar Pradesh government has also changed the postings of six Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officers.
The changes include:
- Rajesh Kumar Singh: SDM, Badaun → Additional District Magistrate (Civil Supplies), Kanpur Nagar.
- Sanjay Kumar Singh: ADM, Gonda → Deputy Director (Administration), Youth Welfare and Prantiya Rakshak Dal.
- Pramod Jha: City Magistrate, Jhansi → ADM, Gonda.
- Yogeshwar Singh: SDM, Kushinagar → City Magistrate, Jhansi.
The latest orders have altered the responsibilities of a total of 11 IAS and PCS officers.
Fresh Transfers Follow Wednesday’s Postings
The latest reshuffle comes a day after another round of administrative changes in Uttar Pradesh.
On Wednesday night, IAS officer Aparajita Arya was appointed Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Malihabad, while Manoj Singh was moved from the SDM post to the position of ACS-5.
With another five IAS officers being transferred on Thursday night, the Yogi Adityanath government has continued its ongoing review of administrative assignments.
The latest reshuffle is particularly notable for the movement of officers between district-level field postings, municipal administration and senior positions in the state government.
More IAS Transfers Expected?
The latest round of transfers has also fuelled speculation about further changes in the Uttar Pradesh bureaucracy.
There is speculation that additional IAS officers currently holding field postings, including District Magistrates, could be transferred to other districts, while some officers may be brought into the state administration and assigned departmental responsibilities.
However, the latest orders are limited to five IAS officers and six PCS officers, covering a mix of field, municipal and state-level assignments.
