Uttarakhand Assembly Budget Session Adjourned Indefinitely; House Functioned for 41 Hours 10 Minutes

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Assembly’s budget session has been adjourned indefinitely. The session, which began on 9 March, ran for a total of 41 hours and 10 minutes over five days. During this period, the Budget for the financial year 2026–27 was passed along with approval of 12 bills and 4 ordinances.

During the session, the Assembly received 50 short notice questions and 545 starred questions, out of which 291 questions were answered in the House. Several important decisions related to different sectors were taken by passing key bills.

Opposition Raised Several Issues

Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said the opposition fulfilled its responsibility in the House honestly. He alleged that the government wanted to end the budget session quickly, but the opposition cornered the government through Question Hour and other rules.

Congress MLAs also said that ministers did not have satisfactory answers to several departmental questions and that incorrect data was presented by officials.

BJP Called the Session Successful

BJP MLA Vinod Kandari said the budget session was completely successful. He alleged that Congress did not attend the Business Advisory Committee meeting and only made political statements inside the House. He said the government passed several important bills related to the state’s development.
