Bhararisain (Gairsain): The budget session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly began on March 9 at the Assembly building in Bhararisain Vidhan Sabha Bhawan with the address of Governor Gurmit Singh. In his speech, the Governor highlighted the achievements of the state government and also presented an outline of development plans for the coming years.
During his address, the Governor said that the state government is working with the goal of making Uttarakhand a developed state by 2047. For this purpose, several important steps are being taken in the areas of economic development, social justice, education, healthcare and employment. The government aims to ensure balanced development in both hill and plain regions of the state.
Focus on Copy-Free Examination System
The Governor also mentioned reforms being implemented in the education sector. He said the government is committed to making competitive examinations transparent and free from cheating. In recent years, strict laws and mechanisms have been introduced to prevent examination fraud, strengthening the trust of youth in the system.
Priority to Women Empowerment
The Governor said women empowerment is among the government’s top priorities. Women are being economically empowered through self-help groups. Schemes such as Lakhpati Didi aim to increase women’s income and connect them with self-employment opportunities.
Employment and Self-Employment for Youth
Special emphasis was also placed on creating employment opportunities for youth. Through the Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme, financial assistance is being provided to young people to start their own businesses, generating local employment opportunities.
Tourism Described as Backbone of Economy
The Governor said tourism is a major pillar of the state’s economy. The government is promoting winter tourism along with the Char Dham Yatra. Special initiatives are being implemented to develop winter tourism so that tourism activities continue throughout the year and provide employment to local communities.
Expansion of Rural Development and Digital Services
The government is working to extend roads, electricity, water supply and digital services to every village. The expansion of digital services is making it easier for citizens to access government schemes and services.
Focus on Agriculture and Animal Husbandry
Efforts are also being made to increase farmers’ income, promote modern agricultural techniques and improve marketing of agricultural products. The government is also strengthening the rural economy by promoting dairy production and animal husbandry.
The Governor said the government is committed to transparent and accountable governance and is encouraging public participation in the effective implementation of development schemes. With the start of the budget session, the government signaled that development, employment, tourism and women empowerment will remain its key priorities.
