Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth Empanelled for DG-Rank Positions in the Central Government

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth has achieved a significant administrative milestone. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has empanelled the 1995-batch IPS officer for Director General (DG) and equivalent positions in the Central Government.

This makes him eligible for DG-level appointments in various central ministries, departments, and security organizations.

Deepam Seth became Uttarakhand’s 13th Director General of Police in 2024. His name has been included among senior IPS officers selected for higher responsibilities based on their service record, experience, and performance.

What Does Empanelment Mean?

Empanelment does not imply immediate appointment. Rather, it signifies that an officer is eligible for appointment to positions of that rank in the Central Government. If deputed to the Centre in the future, Deepam Seth can be appointed only to DG or equivalent posts.

Will He Move to Delhi?

The empanelment has sparked speculation about his possible transfer to the Centre. However, there has been no official indication of such a move. Central deputation requires a proposal from the Central Government, approval from the State Government, and the consent of the officer concerned.

A Major Career Achievement

The empanelment is regarded as a significant achievement in Deepam Seth’s career and reflects the Central Government’s confidence in his leadership, experience, and professional record. For now, he will continue to serve as Uttarakhand’s DGP.
