Uttarakhand: DGP holds high-level meeting, several police officers face action, SIT formed in Dehradun woman’s murder case

Dehradun:  Following negligence in the shooting death of a woman in Rishikesh, AIIMS outpost in-charge SI Sahil Vashisht has been suspended with immediate effect. Similarly, SI Pradyumna Negi, in-charge of Khurbura outpost, has also been suspended for prima facie negligence in the brutal murder of a young woman in Dehradun.

Vishakha Ashok Bhadane to investigate Rishikesh and Dehradun cases:  Considering the sensitivity of crimes against women, the investigation of both cases has been handed over to SP Crime Vishakha Ashok Bhadane. Meanwhile, DGP Deepam Seth has directed that a detailed investigation report on the laxity shown by other personnel in the incident be submitted to the police headquarters within 7 days.

Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth holds high-level meeting on law and order:  On February 3, Uttarakhand Director General of Police Deepam Seth held a high-level review meeting on crime and law and order. Strict action has been taken against police personnel who showed negligence in serious criminal incidents.

SI suspended in Bhagwanpur firing case:  In the Bhagwanpur police station area of ​​Haridwar, SI Surat Sharma, in-charge of Chudiwala outpost, has been suspended with immediate effect for serious negligence in the clash and firing incident between two groups on Ravidas Jayanti in Binarsi village. The entire case has been handed over to Superintendent of Police Crime Haridwar Jitendra Mehra for investigation. A detailed investigation report has been sought regarding the negligence of other police personnel.

Instructions for investigation against police personnel in Kashipur farmer suicide case: In the suicide case of farmer Sukhwant Singh of Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar, in view of the allegations against police officers and employees in land-related matters, instructions have been given for timely and impartial investigation at the CO level in land fraud cases.

The CO will conduct a transparent investigation and clearly mention whether the case is of a civil or criminal nature. Only then will further legal action be taken. The police headquarters will also continuously monitor pending land-related cases. SIT formed in Dehradun woman’s murder case: In the Dehradun woman’s murder case, an SIT team has been formed at the district level under the supervision of the SP City by Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh for swift action. The investigation of the case has been handed over to the Station House Officer of Kotwali Nagar.

The SIT will ensure the quality of the investigation in the registered case, the scientific collection of evidence, the review of CCTV footage related to the incident, and the statements of eyewitnesses present at the scene.  They will take swift action and submit the charge sheet against the accused to the court as soon as possible. This is to ensure that the case is tried in a fast-track court and the accused receives the strictest possible punishment.
