Dehradun: After four years, the cabinet of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been expanded in Uttarakhand. In a swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan, Governor Gurmit Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy to five MLAs. The new ministers include Madan Kaushik, Pradeep Batra, Bharat Chaudhary, Ram Singh Kaida, and Khajan Das.
Under the cabinet expansion, Bharat Chaudhary (MLA from Rudraprayag), Khajan Das (MLA from Rajpur, Dehradun), Pradeep Batra (MLA from Roorkee), Madan Kaushik (MLA from Haridwar), and Ram Singh Kaida (MLA from Bhimtal, Nainital) have been inducted into the cabinet.
There had been discussions for a long time about filling the five vacant cabinet positions. By appointing new faces, the government has attempted to maintain organizational and regional balance.
According to political analysts, this expansion is significant in view of the 2027 assembly elections. The government has included MLAs with strong performance, keeping regional and social balance in mind. It is expected that development work will gain momentum after this expansion.
