Dehradun: Following the success of the film Hanuman Ansh, based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, the Uttarakhand government has decided to develop a spiritual tourism circuit connecting important places associated with the revered spiritual figure.
Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said all major places where Neem Karoli Baba lived or meditated would be identified and connected as part of a proposed religious tourism circuit.
He said Kainchi Dham, Kakri Ghat and Rishikesh, among other locations, would be considered for inclusion in the circuit.
Kainchi Dham is currently attracting a large number of devotees from across India and abroad. The proposed circuit would give visitors an opportunity to learn about and visit other religious and spiritual places associated with Neem Karoli Baba.
The proposed circuit would prominently include Kainchi Dham on the Bhowali-Almora road in Nainital district, Kakri Ghat Ashram and the Rishikesh Ashram.
Other places associated with Baba, including Bhumiadhar and Hanumangarhi, may also be included.
The government is also considering connecting important sites associated with Neem Karoli Baba in Uttar Pradesh. These include Baba’s ashram and samadhi temple in Vrindavan, Mathura, the famous Hanuman temple in Lucknow, and places associated with him in Akbarpur and Kanpur.
Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said a request has also been made to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in this regard.
Maharaj said connecting places associated with Neem Karoli Baba’s life and spiritual practices would promote religious and spiritual tourism. It would also provide devotees from India and abroad an opportunity to visit places associated with his spiritual journey and life.
The minister said the government’s initiative has also been prompted by the public interest generated by the film Hanuman Ansh. A comprehensive spiritual circuit will be developed by identifying and connecting major ashrams and places associated with Baba.
