Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial sanctions worth around ₹256 crore for various development schemes, disaster management works, and preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027 in the state. The released funds will help strengthen infrastructure facilities and accelerate relief and reconstruction works across Uttarakhand.
Under the State Disaster Response Fund, the Chief Minister approved a special budget for all 13 districts using the remaining funds of the 15th Finance Commission. Under this allocation, each district will receive ₹3 crore for relief and rescue operations, ₹5 crore for recovery and reconstruction work, and ₹2 crore for preparedness and capacity development. A total amount of ₹130 crore will be released under this category.
Additionally, under the non-SDRF category, the Chief Minister approved ₹26 crore for reconstruction of disaster-damaged assets, with each district receiving ₹2 crore.
Kumbh Mela Preparations Gain Momentum
Funds have also been approved for various road improvement and widening works related to preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027.
An amount of ₹2.72 crore has been sanctioned for renovation of the four-lane road from National Highway-58 to the industrial area. ₹2.13 crore has been approved for improvement work on the Pashulok Barrage route, while ₹1.36 crore has been sanctioned for renovation of the Bahadrabad–Rohalki Tiraaha to Alipur–Sukrasa–Pathri Ambuwala road.
Drinking Water Schemes Strengthened
In Dehradun, ₹20.37 crore has been approved for tube well construction, rising main pipelines, and distribution system-related works in the Kamla Palace and GMS Road areas under the Pitthuwala branch of Jal Sansthan.
Apart from this, under the SASCI program, financial approval has been granted for several drinking water projects:
- ₹39.86 crore for the Tilwara Nagar Panchayat drinking water scheme in Rudraprayag district,
- ₹24.38 crore for the Pipalkoti Nagar Panchayat drinking water scheme in Chamoli district,
- ₹9.73 crore for the Hindolakhal pumping drinking water scheme in Tehri Garhwal district.
Sunhera Chowk in Roorkee to Be Renamed
The Chief Minister has also approved the proposal to rename Sunhera Marg intersection in the Roorkee Municipal Corporation area as “Shaheed Chowk.” The decision is being considered significant at the local level.
