Uttarakhand State Tribal Festival 2026 begins in Dehradun, CM Dhami releases pensions worth over ₹142 crore

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Uttarakhand State Tribal Festival 2026 आयोजित at Parade Ground and reiterated the commitment of both the central and state governments towards the holistic development of tribal communities.

The festival, organized by the State Tribal Research Institute, saw participation from tribal representatives of 12 states, giving it a national character with vibrant displays of culture and traditions.

During the event, the Chief Minister honored late Tharu folk singer Rinku Devi Rana and Darshan Lal with the ‘Adi Gaurav Samman’. Additionally, pensions worth ₹14,272.185 lakh were transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts with a single click under various Social Welfare Department schemes.

The Chief Minister said that this event is not just a cultural program but a symbol of the rich heritage, simple lifestyle, and cultural pride of tribal communities. He emphasized that tribal societies form a strong foundation of India’s cultural diversity and ancient traditions, living in harmony with nature and promoting sustainable development.

He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several historic steps have been taken for the welfare of tribal communities, including Eklavya Model Residential Schools, Van Dhan Yojana, and the Tribal Development Mission.

He also mentioned that celebrating the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda as Tribal गौरव दिवस reflects respect for tribal communities. He added that the elevation of Droupadi Murmu to the highest constitutional office is a sign of increasing participation of tribal society.

The Chief Minister informed that 128 tribal villages in the state have been identified for comprehensive development. Eklavya schools are operational in Kalsi, Mehravana, Bajpur, and Khatima, while new schools are under construction in Chakrata and Bajpur.

He added that arrangements have been made for technical education, free coaching for competitive exams, and scholarships for tribal youth. An ‘Adi Lakshya Institute’ is also being established in Dehradun to assist youth in preparing for administrative and other competitive examinations.
