Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has launched a major initiative to strengthen and modernize the Revenue Police and Land Records Survey Institute in Almora. During a meeting chaired by Revenue Council Commissioner and Secretary Ranjana Rajguru at the Revenue Council headquarters in Dehradun on Tuesday, officials held detailed discussions on upgrading the institute to meet future administrative requirements.
The meeting directed that training in modern land surveying technologies be given top priority. Officers, including Naib Tehsildars, Revenue Inspectors, and Patwaris/Lekhpal officials, will receive training in the latest survey techniques. Practical instruction will be provided using advanced surveying equipment such as DGPS Rovers, Electronic Total Stations (ETS), and modern survey software.
Commissioner and Secretary Ranjana Rajguru said the institute would be developed in line with the modern requirements of good governance, transparency, and efficient land records management, enabling trainees to deliver better public services.
Officials also directed the timely utilization of funds available under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP). Plans include establishing modern training laboratories and introducing GIS- and e-governance-based training programmes.
The meeting also reviewed the condition of the institute’s hostels, training grounds, library, and other buildings. Instructions were issued for repairing dilapidated structures, carrying out necessary construction work, and ensuring improved accommodation and dining facilities for trainees. The government aims to equip the institute with modern resources to make the state’s revenue administration more efficient and technology-driven.
