Uttarkashi. On the first day of his three-day tour of the border district, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan inspected the Chinyalisaur airstrip, the collection center run by Self-Help Groups in Malli village, and PM SHRI Government Inter College, Matli. He emphasized strengthening strategic infrastructure alongside rural women’s livelihoods and education systems in remote areas.
Inspection of Chinyalisaur Airstrip
The Chief Secretary visited Chinyalisaur airstrip to inspect basic facilities, including the apron, runway, and terminal building. Reviewing current arrangements and expansion plans, he issued necessary directives to officials for strengthening the infrastructure. Due to its proximity to the China border, this airstrip holds strategic importance alongside its role in emergency rescue, disaster management, and VVIP movements.
Appreciation for Women’s Self-Reliance Efforts
The Chief Secretary subsequently inaugurated the collection center of the ‘Sarvashakti Cluster Level Federation’ Tulyada in Malli village, Chinyalisaur. Interacting with women from Self-Help Groups and Lakhpati Didis, he gathered details about their livelihood activities, production, and experiences. Reviewing products crafted by women entrepreneurs, he praised their efforts toward economic self-reliance and social empowerment.
The women shared that with financial and technical support from UGVS-REAP, Livelihood Project, and IFAD, cluster members are becoming self-reliant. Activities such as bakery operations, strawberry farming, tailoring centers, beauty parlors, catering services, dairies, poultry farming, and the production of local goods and pickles are actively being run here.
Interaction with Students, Felicitating Meritorious Scholars
The Chief Secretary also inspected PM SHRI Government Inter College, Matli, in Dunda block. Visiting classrooms, he interacted with students, motivating them to face future challenges fearlessly, set ambitious goals, and adopt a disciplined lifestyle.
Inspecting the school’s science laboratories, computer lab, drinking water arrangements, and other amenities, he directed officials to ensure modern technological resources and a quality learning environment in remote government schools. In addition to planting a sapling on the school premises, he honored students who excelled in various fields.
Rajiv, who placed second at the state level in long jump and was selected for nationals; Shubham, selected for kabaddi; Lavish and Asmit, who performed exceptionally in internal exams; and High School toppers Nidhi Bhatt and Anushka were felicitated with wishes for a bright future.
The visit was attended by District Magistrate Prashant Arya, Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Upadhyay, Chief Development Officer Jai Bharat Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Devanand Sharma, Circle Officer Chanchal Sharma, Chief Education Officer Amit Kotiyal, Executive Engineer (Irrigation) Sachin Singhal, and other officials.
