Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to 215 Sub-Inspectors at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office. This included 104 Sub-Inspectors, 88 Platoon Commanders (PAC), and 23 Fire Officer Grade II.
The Chief Minister said that the police play a crucial role in further strengthening law and order, public safety, and the disaster management system in the state. He told the newly appointed Sub-Inspectors that their examination so far was only the beginning; the real test is now starting. They will now have to discharge important responsibilities such as the security of the state, law and order, disaster management, and fire fighting with complete honesty, discipline, and dedication. The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is a state bordering two international and two internal borders. The police play an effective role in maintaining peace and order in the state, as well as on many fronts such as drug trafficking, cybercrime, women’s safety, traffic management, disaster management, and the Char Dham and Kanwar Yatra.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Smart Policing’, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to equipping the police force with modern technology, state-of-the-art equipment, and excellent training. In the last three years, approximately Rs. 500 crore has been sanctioned for the housing of police personnel, and a cashless health facility has been provided. He said that police personnel are being provided training in advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and data analytics. Appreciating the performance of the Uttarakhand Police in ensuring women’s safety, the Chief Minister said that the state has achieved twice the national average in resolving crimes against women and, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs report, has secured the fifth position in the country in resolving cases under the POCSO Act and other crimes against women.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has implemented the country’s strictest anti-cheating law to ensure transparency in recruitment processes. As a result, more than 26,000 young people have received government jobs in the last four years. All examinations in the state are being conducted in a completely transparent and fair manner. He expressed confidence that the newly appointed personnel will discharge their duties with honesty, integrity, and dedication, and will further strengthen the peace, security, and public trust in the state.
Present on the occasion were Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Khajandas and Umesh Sharma Kau, Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Director General of Police Deepam Seth, Additional Directors General of Police Dr. V. Murugesan and A.P. Anshuman, IG Yogendra Singh Rawat, and other police officers.
