Dhami Government Increases Ministers’ Travel Allowance by Rs. 30,000, Now They Will Receive Rs. 90,000 Instead of Rs. 60,000 Per Month, Government Order Issued

Dehradun: The travel allowance for ministers in Uttarakhand has been increased. The travel allowance has now been increased from Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 90,000 per month. The government has taken this major decision for the ministers in 2026.

While the Uttarakhand government is continuously describing the state’s economic situation as challenging, on the other hand, a significant increase has been made in the travel allowance given to the ministers. According to the notification issued by the government, state ministers will now receive Rs 90,000 per month as travel allowance instead of Rs 60,000. This is a direct increase of Rs 30,000.

This decision has been implemented through a notification issued on January 29, 2026. The order issued by the Council of Ministers section of the Uttarakhand government amends the Uttar Pradesh Ministers (Travel Allowance) Rules, 1997, which has now been implemented as the Uttar Pradesh Ministers (Travel Allowance) (Amendment) Rules, 2026.

Under this amendment, Rule 4 has been changed, increasing the maximum limit of travel allowance for ministers. According to the notification, all ministers, including the Chief Minister, Ministers of State, and Deputy Ministers, will now be able to claim a maximum of Rs 90,000 per calendar month for travel undertaken within Uttarakhand or within India for the discharge of their official duties. Previously, this limit was set at Rs 60,000.

It is worth noting that in August 2024, the government had also given a major gift to the MLAs by increasing their salaries and allowances. Before August 2024, MLAs received only Rs 2.90 lakh including salary and allowances. After the Uttarakhand State Legislative Assembly Miscellaneous Amendment Bill-2024 was passed, the salary and allowances of MLAs were increased to approximately four lakh rupees.

Before that, in 2023, the Dhami government had also increased the honorarium of office bearers. At that time, the Dhami government had increased the honorarium of office bearers by about Rs 45,000. In addition, in 2025, the Dhami government had also increased the pension of former MLAs.
