CM Dhami’s Good Governance Model Praised Again by the Central Government, Rs 264 Crore Approved

Dehradun: The Central Government has sanctioned an incentive amount of Rs 264.5 crore to Uttarakhand for various reforms implemented by the Urban Development and Housing Department under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. CM Dhami expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for this.

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had asked states to implement various policy reforms related to the urban development and housing department. In the process of implementing these reforms, the Ministry has sanctioned a total incentive amount of Rs 264.5 crore to Uttarakhand under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2025-26. Of this, the Urban Development Department has been allocated Rs 3 crore for GIS-based utility mapping (sewerage, drinking water, drainage works), Rs 6.5 crore for mapping of government lands and buildings, and Rs 10 crore for increasing revenue sources at the municipal level.

The Ministry has sanctioned the highest incentive amount for the reforms implemented under the Housing Department. Under the Urban Land and Planning Reform, the Uttarakhand Housing Department had implemented the rules for Town Planning Scheme and Land Pooling Scheme, for which the Ministry has sanctioned Rs 100 crore.

Similarly, Rs 140 crore has been sanctioned for the urban renewal program of old urban areas. An incentive amount of Rs 5 crore has also been sanctioned for implementing green building standards in the building bylaws. Secretary Housing, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, said that the Housing Department, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is working with commitment to provide affordable housing to every citizen of Uttarakhand and to make Uttarakhand one of the leading states in the country.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Uttarakhand government is trying to implement all the guidelines of the central government with complete dedication. In this regard, an incentive of ₹264.5 crore has been approved for the reforms undertaken in the Housing and Urban Development Department.  Previously, the state had also received ₹200 crore from the central government as an incentive for reforms in the mining sector. Uttarakhand has emerged as a model of good governance.
