Dehradun: The Uttarayan Kauthik Festival, held for the first time at the city’s Parade Ground, filled the capital with the colors of folk culture. Organized by the Seva Sankalp Foundation, this four-day festival showcased folk traditions, songs, music, and cultural influences from every region of Uttarakhand on a single platform. The large turnout described the event as historic.
The presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the closing ceremony of the festival made the event even more special. During the event, the Chief Minister’s wife, Geeta Dhami, addressed the public from the stage. During her address, she became emotional while speaking on the role of women. The overflowing emotions in her eyes filled the entire pandal with a solemn and emotional atmosphere.
In her address, Geeta Dhami mentioned the sacrifices of many brave women and mothers of the country. She said that behind any successful person, the mother and family play a major role. Citing the example of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s mother, Vishna Devi, she said, “If she hadn’t taken responsibility for the family, Pushkar Singh Dhami wouldn’t have reached this position today. As the Chief Servant of the State, Pushkar Singh Dhami didn’t spare a single day for his family in the past four years. He remained continuously engaged in serving the state.”
Geeta Dhami further said, “The Chief Minister has never shied away from taking tough decisions. To secure the future of the youth, an anti-cheating law was enacted and more than 26,000 youth were given government jobs. Geeta Dhami also spoke openly about the misconceptions being spread regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and live-in relationships. She said, “Some people are alleging that the Chief Minister went against religion by implementing the UCC and recognizing live-in relationships.” The truth is that live-in relationships have already been recognized by the Supreme Court and the High Court. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami did not introduce any new provisions, but merely established rules for the existing ones.

In her address, Geeta Dhami said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is today known not only in the state but also across the country as a protector of religion.
