Haldwani. In a significant initiative toward safeguarding women’s health in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a nationwide HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination campaign for girls aged 9 to 14 years from Ajmer. The objective of the campaign is to ensure prevention of cervical cancer and provide timely protection to adolescent girls.
In Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami joined the program virtually. He inspected the special vaccination room set up at Haldwani Medical College and interacted with the girls and their parents, explaining the importance of the vaccine.
Why Is This Campaign Important?
Cervical cancer is one of the serious diseases affecting women. According to experts, timely administration of the HPV vaccine can significantly reduce the risk of this disease. Keeping this in view, the central government has launched this campaign at the national level.
Under the campaign, a target has been set to provide free vaccination to more than 11.5 million adolescent girls across the country.
Extensive Preparations in Uttarakhand
The state government has ensured arrangements at 155 vaccination centers in the first phase. Health workers have been given special training, and the cold-chain system has been strengthened to maintain the quality and effectiveness of the vaccines.
Chief Minister Dhami said that the campaign is linked to the health and dignity of women. He appealed to parents not to pay attention to any rumors and to ensure vaccination of their daughters.
Strengthening of Health Infrastructure
Special emphasis is also being placed on expanding health services in the state. Under the Ayushman scheme, lakhs of people are receiving free treatment. The functioning of medical colleges in various districts and the availability of super-specialty services have improved healthcare facilities.
The government aims to realize the vision of a “Healthy Uttarakhand” by delivering quality healthcare services to every citizen.
This campaign is not only a step toward disease prevention but also a commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy future for the coming generations.
