Bihar Day celebrated at Lok Bhawan; members of Bihari Mahasabha and senior officials participated

Dehradun: A special program was organized at Lok Bhawan in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, on the occasion of Bihar Day (March 22). People of Bihar origin residing in Uttarakhand and senior government officials participated in the event.

During the program, the Bihari Mahasabha presented attractive cultural performances based on Bihar’s rich cultural heritage. In particular, a folk dance performed by young girls captivated the audience and became the highlight of the event.

Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) said that the land of Bihar has been a priceless heritage of knowledge, spirituality, culture, and history. He noted that this is the sacred land where Gautama Buddha and Lord Mahavira spread the message of knowledge and non-violence. He also mentioned that world-renowned centers of learning like Nalanda University spread knowledge across the globe.

The Governor said that to strengthen the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” it is essential to understand and अपनाना (adopt) the cultural uniqueness of all states. Such events promote cultural exchange between states and strengthen national unity and integrity.

He added that Bihar has made significant contributions to the country’s development in areas such as governance, administration, education, and healthcare.

Several dignitaries were present at the event, including First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Special Principal Secretary Amit Kumar Sinha, Additional Director General of Police A.P. Anshuman, Secretary Nitesh Jha, Governor’s Secretary Ravinath Raman, Legal Advisor Kaushal Kishore Shukla, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, Bihari Mahasabha President Lalan Singh, Secretary Chandan Kumar Jha, Treasurer Ritesh Kumar, and Dr. Ram Vinay Singh.
