Dehradun: A high-level seminar on the topic “India: On the Path to Becoming a Global Leader” was held at the auditorium near Survey Chowk, organized by Doon Library and Research Centre, Chintan Research Foundation, and the Indian Institute of Public Administration.
The event was chaired by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan and moderated by N. Ravishankar.
During the program, the book “Smarter than the Storm” by Amitabh Kant was also launched.
Amitabh Kant, former CEO of NITI Aayog and G20 Sherpa, said that India has made remarkable progress over the past decade in technology, connectivity, policy reforms, work culture, and social transformation.
He emphasized the need to convert India’s demographic dividend into opportunity by focusing on skill development, reducing the R&D gap, and improving quality infrastructure.
Former WTO Director Shishir Priyadarshi stressed the importance of continuous efforts, self-reflection, quality, reliability, and positive thinking rather than merely claiming global leadership.
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan highlighted that Uttarakhand’s green economy, hospitality traditions, youth participation, and public awareness can contribute significantly to making India a global leader.
Former Commerce Secretary Rajeev Kher and former Urban Development Secretary Shankar Aggarwal also emphasized quality-driven growth and smart urban planning.
