Changes made in the work areas of 4 IPS officers in Uttarakhand, decision taken in view of Kumbh Mela and law and order

Dehradun: Transfers of IPS officers have been made in Uttarakhand. The government has issued orders for new postings by changing the responsibilities of four IPS officers. These orders were issued from Dehradun on April 3, 2026. The objective of these transfers is said to be making administrative work more effective and establishing balance in departmental functioning.

In the order issued regarding transfers and new postings of Indian Police Service officers, some officers have been given important responsibilities in view of the upcoming Kumbh Mela.

Yogendra Singh Rawat has been removed from the post of Inspector General of Police (Personnel/Headquarters) and appointed as Inspector General of Police, Kumbh Mela.

Similarly, Ayush Agarwal has been relieved from the post of Senior Superintendent of Police Tehri and given the responsibility of SSP in Kumbh Mela. During the Kumbh, major responsibility of law and order, crowd management, and security arrangements will be on these officers.

According to the order, Shweta Chaubey has been appointed as Senior Superintendent of Police of Tehri district.

As per the list, senior IPS officer Abhinav Kumar Singh Rawat has been transferred from the post of Inspector General (Personnel) and given the responsibility of Inspector General, Kumaon Range. Considering several sensitive law and order issues in Kumaon region, this posting is considered important.

In the same sequence, Abhishek Agarwal has been removed from the post of SSP Tehri Garhwal and appointed as SSP Udham Singh Nagar. Udham Singh Nagar is considered strategically very important due to being an industrial and border district, hence this posting is seen as a significant step by the government.

Apart from this, Amit Srivastava has been transferred from the post of Superintendent of Police (Crime & Traffic) and given the responsibility of SP Tehri Garhwal. Due to tourism, Char Dham Yatra, and geographical conditions, the role of police administration in Tehri district remains very important.

Meanwhile, Pankaj Bhatt has been transferred from the post of SP Crime Against Women and CB-CID and appointed as Assistant Inspector General of Police Tehri Garhwal. Considering his experience in cases related to crimes against women, this change is seen as part of departmental strategy.

The order clearly states that all officers will take charge of their new posts with immediate effect and inform the government through police headquarters. The government has also instructed concerned departments to ensure that no administrative obstacle arises during the transfer process and necessary cooperation is provided.
