Plastic-free Char Dham Yatra; strict monitoring via drones

Dehradun: The state government has launched a major initiative to make Char Dham Yatra 2026 completely plastic-free. CM Dhami has issued strict instructions to discourage plastic use and take strong action against littering.

Drones will be used to monitor waste and plastic, along with a modern command and control center. A “money-back” plastic scheme will be implemented, and plastic waste management will be made mandatory in shops.

Water ATMs and RO plants will be installed along the route to reduce plastic bottle usage. Large-scale deployment of sanitation workers has been ensured, along with solid waste management infrastructure including MRF centers, compost pits, compactors, and garbage vehicles.

Public toilet facilities have been expanded, including separate arrangements for men, women, and persons with disabilities, along with mobile units.

Parking spaces and accommodation facilities have been increased to handle the large number of pilgrims.

Special focus has been placed on public participation, with QR code-based feedback systems and modern technology to improve transparency and management.

24-hour hot water in Kedarnath:
This year, free hot water will be available round the clock in Kedarnath using eco-friendly biomass-based systems.

The government aims to make Char Dham Yatra 2026 clean, safe, technology-driven, and completely plastic-free while ensuring a better experience for pilgrims and protecting the environment.
