New Tehri: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan conducted an on-site inspection of Bajrang Setu in Tapovan, Tehri Garhwal, on Thursday to review construction progress and safety standards.
During the inspection, Public Works Department Chief Engineer Om Prakash briefed him on the bridge’s engineering structure, technical specifications, and construction details. The Chief Secretary reviewed the project’s progress and issued necessary directions.
Following the inspection, Bardhan visited Hilans Himalayan Bhojanalaya, a local restaurant established under a livelihood development initiative.
The restaurant’s operator, Beena Pundir, informed him about customer footfall, sales performance, and project support received under the REAP Project. The venture received ₹6 lakh through the project, ₹3 lakh as a bank loan, and ₹1 lakh through a Cluster Level Federation (CLF).
The Chief Secretary instructed officials to undertake additional plantation around the premises and improve menu displays to make them clearer and more attractive for visitors.
He emphasized that tourism- and livelihood-related initiatives such as this play an important role in strengthening the economy of hill regions and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting such projects.
The inspection was attended by Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Nitika Khandelwal, Shweta Chaubey, Vinita Bisht, and other district officials.
